About Jsense

MAXIMISING CHILDREN’S EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

JSENSE believes passionately that every child and young person with special educational needs (SEND) deserves the best possible specialised help to maximise their individual educational achievements & to acquire the necessary life skills which other young people learn naturally.

JSENSE is a Greater based registered charity, established in 2013, to support those caring for and educating Jewish children and young people with special educational needs. We have two main parts to our work – our schools work and our parents and carers work. Our work with parents and carers is to provide resources, communities and experiences that enhance the lives of parents and carers of Jewish children and young people with special educational needs. The schools work offers training, support and consultancy services to local Jewish schools in Greater Manchester.

DEVELOPING ESSENTIAL LIFE SKILLS

JSENSE believes passionately that every child and young person with special educational needs (SEND) deserves the best possible specialised help to maximise their individual educational achievements & to acquire the necessary life skills which other young people learn naturally.

We established a valued portfolio of well-designed, quality services to enable individually tailored support for our client groups, delivered by experienced, trained staff, with culturally appropriate teaching resources.

JSENSE merged with the former parent group JADDS in February 2019. Whilst the newly merged charity will continue to be known as JSENSE, this will build on the previous success of the individual charities.

“Society is increasingly turning to charities to provide and deliver key services and amenities, with an expectation that these services will be delivered in a well organised, effective and accountable way.” Charity Commission

Our charitable objectives;

We aim to help develop the skills of all staff in Jewish Schools and nurseries by providing specially adapted training & consultancy services to suit Jewish cultural and religious requirements of pupils with special educational needs & disabilities (SEND). We also provide support services, educational meetings and social networks for children and young people with SEND and their parents and carers.

Aims of JSENSE;

JSENSE primarily works with the Jewish community in the Greater Manchester area in both state and independent schools, aiming to promote educational attainment, social and emotional development for Jewish children and young people with special educational needs. Our work promotes a holistic approach, working with parents and carers as well as educational providers. We support parents and carers to be more empowered and confident to support the child or young person and support good relationships with local schools.

We aim to prevent isolation, improve self-esteem and community integration of Jewish children and young people with special educational needs.

Children and Vulnerable Adults Protection Policy

JSENSE has a duty of care to safeguard all children/vulnerable adults who access its services from harm. All children have a right to protection, and the needs of disabled children and others adults who may be particularly vulnerable must be taken into account. JSENSE aims to ensure the safety and protection of all children/vulnerable adults involved with the organisation through adherence to the guidelines.”

Our work at JSENSE has been generously supported by the Delamere Charitable trust. We are very grateful for this support.
